Visitor → customer, end to end — the number that feeds your CAC math

How it works

Customers = visitors × visitor→lead rate × lead→customer rate.

Funnels multiply, and multiplication is brutal: two stages that each convert at 5–10% turn 10,000 visitors into a few dozen customers. Seeing the whole chain in one place tells you where the leverage is — doubling a 5% step is usually far easier than doubling traffic.

The classic mistake is quoting one flattering stage ("we convert 10% of leads!") while the end-to-end rate is a fraction of a percent. Always compute the overall rate; it's the number your CAC math actually depends on.

Worked example

10,000 visitors × 5% visitor→lead × 10% lead→customer = 500 leads and 50 customers. At $100 each that's $5,000/month, and the end-to-end conversion is just 0.5% — so a paid click can cost at most 50¢ before the funnel loses money.
